The 2nd Mile Fund idea came about from an inspiration after experiencing a 3 day Live HUB event in Los Angeles, CA called Awakening Your Brilliance. During this magical weekend, HUB selected 5 family's to be gifted their immediate needs and money to help them move from survival into self empowerment, and basically make their dreams come true. It was indeed an emotional and fulfilling project to be part of. Together, the family's received over $106,000, plus over $30,000 in personal development training and education, and also things like computers, food, vacations, jobs, necessities, and more. We are all familiar with the TV show "The Big Give", but when do we ever get the opportunity to be part of something like that? We have busy lives, trying to make ends meet for ourselves and our own families. However there is an answer…Let's start a movement, one where you can simply add yourself to a team in your community that dedicates only a little effort to give to a selected person or family. These teams can be assembled by HUB members through out the country, and eventually through out the world to allow the opportunity for everyone to receive the reward of dramatically impacting someone's life. Our hopes are that this will become contagious…and we will create more caring communities and teach our children to get into the habit of giving and receiving. For those of you who are giving just a little time or energy to help someone you don't know, you may see a shift in your life happen. When you give, you get something more in return that may change your life forever. Today, a woman in Northern San Diego County is in need of help. She is self-employed working from her home and is currently facing foreclosure. Liens have been placed on her assets, and she is in dire need. She doesn't have the resources to make ends meet, not even to survive for a month. If she loses her home, she has no where to go, and the little income that she receives will be gone because she'll have no where to see her clients. She was a fire victim, and lost her income during that time. She was even refused assistance by her lender. Her fiancé is also self employed and recently broke his arm. They have no medical insurance, the pain greatly has limited the amount of work he can do. Despite their current circumstances, so close to losing everything, she continues to donate her time to help young women. She mentors teenagers by teaching them her trade skills. Her face always has a smile on it, but behind the doors her entire life is falling apart. She has also taken in two abandoned animals that will also be left homeless if nothing changes soon. We plan on doing the Reveal on May 28th, 8:30 PM, following our 6:30 PM Igniter meeting at the Quantum Learning Network Conference Center, Oceanside, CA.
